In order to respond to high demand, we must limit each organization to no more than one group of up to fifty children per day at The Met Fifth Avenue or The Met Cloisters. Exceptions are considered on a case-by-case basis only; you will have the opportunity to explain your situation in the Visit Information section of this form.

We require one chaperone for every ten children. The Museum reserves the right to limit the number of adult chaperones participating in camp and community youth group guided visits.

You have requested a guided visit. These hour-long tours are led by trained Museum educators and volunteers and offer extraordinary opportunities for children to make the most of their encounters with great works of art. Our educators engage students in learner-centered, inquiry-based conversations that foster curriculum connections and encourage important learning skills such as evidence-based reasoning and critical thinking. Guided visits also inspire children to build strong content knowledge across disciplines, and support their confidence, curiosity and creativity.

Guided visits at The Met Fifth Avenue are conducted July through August on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 10:15 am–3 pm, with some availability during the school year.

Please provide preferences for three possible dates and times. Guided visits can be scheduled no less than three weeks in advance. Do not consider your visit booked until you receive a confirmation number via email from the Groups and Advance Sales Office.

Please note that because of the building's landmark status, accessibility at The Met Cloisters is somewhat limited for wheelchair users and others with mobility difficulties. To receive more information about accessibility or to request assistance, please provide as much information about your group as possible.

You have requested a self-guided visit. This experience will allow you to lead your own group on a custom visit through the Museum. If you plan to have your group sketch or write in the galleries, please bring clipboards or notebooks to use as hard surfaces on which to write. Please also be sure to bring pencils; pens and markers are not permitted in the galleries.

At The Met Fifth Avenue, self-guided appointments are available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 10 am—3 pm, with some weekend availability.

Groups can reserve Audio Guides for $5 per adult and $4 per student.
